Create a handmade "Spring Fling" apron – a special apron that has something on it related to a springtime theme – flowers, a cleaning apron, Easter, or gardening. In addition to the apron, please tuck-in three little gifts with your box, one for each letter of your partner's initials.

Items must be handcrafted, new from the store, or thrifted (but only if they are in “better than new” condition). Plan on spending a minimum of $10 on tuck-ins in addition to your apron and postage (boxes MUST be sent 2-day priority w/tracking). Then, make this a special box – gift wrapping, bows, the whole nine yards!

It seems like everywhere I look, all I see are adorable polka-dotted goodies. I personally just bought myself a black and white polka dotted mug for tea at work. I decorated snack tables at my church’s womens retreat and all my accessories were “dotty” this past weekend. I even found an adorable black and white polka dot top on sale that I adore!

So, in this swap, participants will create a handmade “Polka Dot Pretties” apron. You do NOT have to make the whole thing from polka-dots! That’s TOO predictable. If you prefer, use the dots for accents, polka-dot ribbon ties, maybe the pockets … perhaps you’ll find some rick-rack like I’ve used, that was dotted! Do what makes you smile. For your cookbook, please take the time to find one that you’d like to receive, not just any old cookbook, ‘k? You gotta sign up by April Fool’s Day and send before May Day.

Ok Aprons are due this weekend. I know that several of you have been super busy sewing your kids into costumes so we are letting you chime in by Monday.
So if it isn't shipped already, please sit down now and sew up some lovely pink wonderfulness! You also need to get your box stuffed $15 worth of pink fabulousness!

You then need to chime in and email us and let us know that you DID send it and give a delivery confirmation number so it can be tracked. Believe me that really is important. Then you KNOW where your package is because they can track it down and who had it last.

We here at the Sassy/Flirty Apron Swap (Lucy and Shawnee) are very proud to announce the start up of our newest apron swap. This swap is run like a club, with a very special twist this time around.

Passionately Pink Apron Swap
I think it’s safe to say that almost EVERYONE knows somebody who’s had breast cancer – sometimes it’s a co-worker or a best friend, sometimes it’s a close loved one, and sometimes it’s personal. That said, WE as women can help in this fight against breast cancer and raise funds for breast cancer research while encouraging and uplifting each other. And, there’s no better time than October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

So, I told you our latest club swap has a twist. Here it is: you will make TWO Passionately Pink aprons in this swap – one for your assigned partner and will include at least $15 worth of pink goodies to make a fun package; the second apron is for you to somehow leverage for The Cause. For example, my (Shawnee’s) second apron is being given to my friend who’s a breast cancer survivor. Kristi is collecting donations for her Race for the Cure and will put all her donors names into a drawing with one lucky winner receives my Zebra and Hot Pink apron. The possibilities are endless.
You could:
• donate your apron to a local clinic to be given to a woman who needs a smile;
• wrap it around a casserole and deliver your apron to someone you know is going through
treatment;
• auction it off on your website to raise funds to donate toward research;
• make it in memory of someone and give it to her family as a cherished keepsake;
• ????

Yeah!!! We are at the finish line. The aprons are due to be shipped by Saturday night. That gives you less than 24 hours to get your packages finished and shipped out! What fun!

We have a wonderful giveaway for you. Actually we have a few to give.

First off we have a grand prize of 7 half yard cuts of fabric from

The fabric is flights of fancy by Paula Prass for Michael Miller.

If you haven't already checked out her shop you should. She has wonderful fabric selections and some pretty wonderful patterns. I have made 3 of them myself and love them.

First we have a wonderful Tomato gift package from Shawnee but unfortunately there is no picture as her sad camera cord is missing and the poor picture is stuck on her camera.

Welcome To the Busy Bee Club Garden Apron Swap

We here at the Sassy/Flirty Apron Swap (Lucy and Shawnee) are very proud to announce the start up of our newest apron swap. This swap is run like a club.

With spring in full swing in most parts of the Northern hemisphere, we would like to do a Garden themed apron swap. This swap is meant to be a little "Green". With a tight economy we are focusing our attention this round on how be a little more self sufficient. A garden is a great way to save a few bucks and help produce some lovely fresh food for your self and your family as well.
We will be posting garden tutorials and links here from big gardens right down to things you can grow on your counter top. Everyone should be able to find something to grow. :o)

The aprons to go along with this theme are Gardening aprons. These can be multi pocketed bib or half style aprons for holding seed packets, gardening tools, gloves, and such. Or it can be the big gathering aprons for bringing in produce, collecting eggs, carrying weeds to the compost and more. We have also included a garden party apron category if you would rather swap that type. So when you sign up be sure to let us know what kind of apron you are interested in swapping.

Here is one more thing we would like you to consider before joining this swap:
To join in this swap you don’t have to be an expert seamstress, but you do need to be experienced enough to pull a nice apron off. We expect an apron that would pass in 8th Grade Home Economics - not an "A" but at least passable.
We don’t want to get too fussy here and scare anyone off. As Lucy says, we love to see the work of new seamstresses and have had some as partners in swaps and have loved the work they do. It is fresh and full of enthusiasm.

If you feel that your work is not good enough, you can also swap an apron made by another crafter. There are many at Etsy worth buying from. Just be sure to give credit where it is due and honor the apron artist!

I found some new patterns and the designer is a sweetheart!!! Mary Mulari has been in the sewing industry for a long time and she's got some great vintage reproduction patterns that I had never seen before. (Mary is coming to the Sewing Expo in Puyallup, WA Feb 26-Mar 1 - I can't wait to meet her. I'll be there on Saturday, and I'd love to meet any apron swappers that will be there too!!) I bought this "Hot Dish Apron Pattern" at my local Fabric Depot. Now, I know that Hot Dish is another name for Potluck, but I kinda think it's a cute and flirty name too ... I might just add a ruffle or two to mine.

My name is Vicky. Growing up in the fifties, I watched my mom take in sewing and ironing to help feed us 6 kids. She didn't have time to teach us to sew and I had already decided that sewing was something I never wanted to do. She passed away in 1981. In 1985 I had this incredible urge to learn how to quilt and make doll clothes. Quilting and sewing has become my passion. My mom passed away never knowing that I had inherited her talent. My sister has said that mom would be very proud of me, thus that is the name I chose. Please let me share my talent with you. I have collected lots of different fabrics over the years, so most of my aprons will be one of a kind. So get them while you can. On a personal note: I have worked and am still working full time for the same company for the last 38 years. My husband is retired and we are Proud Army Parents of one son currently stationed in Alaska.

Because of the nature of this Apron Swap/Club (yes this is more like a club). We have the opportunity to do things just a little differently.
We have some big prizes that we are going to give away to lucky swappers. You will have to do special things to be entered into these drawings. (you know stand on your head, pat your head and rub your tummy) NO I mean things here on the blog.

How to add a button to blogger blogs

Here's how I do it:

Choose the swap picture (badge) you like best, hover your mouse over it and right-click. Select Save Image As and call it SSEN.jpg, and save it in My Pictures on your pc computer (a sub-folder of My Documents). Then, go to your blog, Sign In and select Customize / Layout. You want to Add a Badge to the sidebar, Picture. You will browse for SSEN from your computer. Be sure to type in the Link section http://sassyflirtyapronswap.blogspot.com -- Save again and you're done!

Perhaps someone else can help if you've got Wordpress or another blog type.

Welcome to Lucy and Shawnee's first co-hosted apron swap! We've been chatting for months, sharing ideas, getting to know each other, and talking about the ups and downs of hosting swaps. We are so excited to team up together for a special Valentine's Day swap. In addition to using an online registration form and sharing the responsibilities of assigning partners, we are also initiating a $5.00 participant fee to go toward prizes and "angel" contributions for the participants whose pals drop out from the swap.

We always hope that the angels needed will be few and far between, as we'd like everyone to fulfill their commitments to the exchange. However, in the past, the funding for angel contributions came from either swap participants or from the hostesses themselves. This time we thought we'd help defray that cost by collecting for it up front.

As always, we would encourage you to be sure you can commit to the swap requirements before signing up, especially as we can only accept a limited number of participants this round. A quick decision will guarantee your spot!

If you would like to sign up, click on one of the "BUY NOW" links to right for either Shawnee or Lucy's team and you will be directed to a PayPal checkout. Once payment is made, you click on Return to Merchant and will be taken to the registration screen. Then, save your favorite swap badge and post on your own blog!

If you have any questions, please let either Lucy or Shawnee know right away!

Here is one more thing we would like you to consider before joining this swap: To join in this swap you don’t have to be an expert seamstress, but you do need to be experienced enough to pull a nice apron off. We expect an apron that would pass in 8th Grade Home Economics - not an "A" but at least passable.

We don’t want to get too fussy here and scare anyone off. As Lucy says, we love to see the work of new seamstresses and have had some as partners in swaps and have loved the work they do. It is fresh and full of enthusiasm. If you feel that your work is not good enough, you can also swap an apron made by another crafter. There are many at Etsy worth buying from. Just be sure to give credit where it is due and honor the apron artist!

Welcome to the Sassy/ Flirty Apron Swap!

By signing up for the Sassy Flirty Apron Swap, you agree to the following:
1. To reply to the assignment email within 48 hours, acknowledging receipt of your partner and letting us know you're still playing (to be received late-January).
2. To remain anonymous; if you need to ask your partner a question, send a message through us or use a secret email account that does not have your real name attached (test it first).
3. To joyfully create an apron that you would love to receive, washed and pressed so it is wonderfully fresh for your partner.
4. To mail your package no later than February 2, 2009, using USPS Delivery Confirmation or other tracking, and to email us the tracking number so we know you have met your mailing commitment. Anyone not mailing by the deadline will be subject to being banned from future swaps and packages angeled.
5. To email us when you have received your package, and to copy us on your thank you email to your unknown partner who worked so hard on your apron.
6. To have fun! All participants will be invited to join the Sassy Flirty Apron Swap Flickr group and able to post pictures of aprons-in-progress, comments and read about giveaways. And since this is a paid swap, there will be LOTS of giveaways!

If you have any specific questions for your partner, you can email us at lucyandshawnee@yahoo.com and we will try to act as intermediary. However, creating a surprise is what this all about so don't feel like you need to know exactly what they "want". Your partner wants the sassy and flirty apron YOU create for them.
